I've lost a trailer once while crossing a rail way, the hitch comming off over the bumps (and due to the break cable, it stopped immediately ON the rail way crossing). Luckily, the trailer was empty and I could push it away quickly
Don't you guys have chains?!? Never lost a trailer, but we use crossover chains between the trailer and the hitch. If the ball pops off, or something comes undone, the idea is that the chains make a cradle for the tongue to sit it.
No, not chomps' tongue. That thing needs to be cut off!
