Dragon APX Review

Okay... I admit it... I jumped on the fanboy bandwagon for this goggle after seeing it first time in Halldor's clip where he did a so called "lobster flip". I dunno, I thought the Dragon APX looks pretty cool and I needed new goggles. Dragon claims that their anti fog tech on these goggles are twice as good as other lenses, and I somehow just took their word for it.

Anyway, I got the goggles last week and tried them on so wanted to give you guys a bit of my thoughts.

First of all, I have a pretty big head, I wear a Smith Holt XL (60-62cm) so I need large goggles. Aside from the Oakley Canopy which I haven't had a chance to try out, I have felt that every single pair of Oakley from Crowbar to Splice are too small for me. My previous pair of goggles was Vonzipper Feenom, and I liked its fit.

In terms of size, I have imagined that the APX to as big as the EG2. But that's not true, the APX felt similar in size to the Von Zipper Feenom. They look larger on the outside because of the frameless lens, but on the inside the vision was about the same for me. In fact, the Von Zipper Feenoms were much wider than the APX. The foam on the APX pinched the edge of my eyes, whereas the Feenoms have a lot of extra room. I ended up cutting some foam off the APX in order to be comfortably wearing the goggles.

I am impressed with the overall build quality on other aspects of the goggles. No complaints at all, very comfortable. The hard vents are pretty cool too. Although the lens are not easily interchangeable. I am worried that the pegs on the lens will eventually break if I change lens too much. I don't know if I would pay the full $200 retail price for the goggles since I could just buy EG2 for like $70 or so on discount. But I got the APX at $99 with 2 pairs of lens (green ionized and blue/yellow ionized) and I am pretty happy with the goggles at this price.
