Default Competitions for Kids...???

Can someone help me with info, preferably someone who has a competing kid, in what the best way to go for competing in the USA...

My Stepson is currently 8, and i am thinking that maybe not next year but the year after, we want to try and fly to america for a couple of weeks and compete in a couple of competitions...

What do i need to know, web sites for registration info etc, costs for what i need, where the best comps are etc...

We will have some backing from the school he attends for costs, and we have some sponsorship that may extend to travel for some costs as well, but need to try and work out what it will all be and if it will have an advantage to Seb.

We are realistic in knowing that the chances of him winning are very slim, and we have some hard work ahead of us, but we think it will benefit him and he wants to try and do some over there.

Any help would be appreciated, and any info will be greatly received.
