Experience painting bindings?

Anyone have first hand experience painting their bindings? I have a couple pair of C02's, one in white with the red backing, and don't like the red. I taped it off and painted black last night with Plasti Dip in flat black. It looks good, think that's the direction I'm going to go, but it's not going to hold up. I can tell this will easily peel off after several uses. Love the look, but wanted some recommendations on what paint to use. I'm assuming some auto paint will work best, that can be used on plastics......

Any tips appreciated.....
