Our local hill (Snow Creek in Missouri) has a great terrain park that the guys do a fantastic job maintaining. I am very thankful for them after my experience this past weekend at another hill.
I did venture up to Omaha this past weekend to ride at Mount Crescent and I will say that their park was pretty rough. None of the entry jumps had been groomed or maintained so they were icy and uneven. Some of the boxes were actually twisted so they would start level and end up dropping 3" from one side to the other. They had a double wide rail (ride on style) that was 20+ degrees out.
I was excited about all the rails and trying to progress some more but I struggled all day. I was only able to lock on the rails when I was really going fast...anything at a slower speed (my learning speed) resulted in a crash. I thought I was going to nail board slides on Saturday and I actually only nailed the ground!
However, I did provide ample entertainment for everyone around.
Anyone else have any experience with rails that were just poorly installed or maintained? Was I just off my game or are other people adversely effected by poorly installed and maintained rails/boxes?
