Carving transition question

Hi,

I have some questions regarding transition during carving... I think I'm fairly sure I am carving for the most part but I see a "gap" during transitions if I look back at my lines... Is this supposed to be okay? or am I doing something incorrectly?

Here was my attempt at short carving turns... (another side question, am I actually doing short carving turns or am I just going from edge to edge...?)
My line is the one closest to the trees. You can clearly see the gaps in the transitions...

Thank you,
Peter.
