Board snapping question

Ive been out about 5 times to the slopes this year, and went to the park twice. Both of the times Ive been there someones board has snapped in half, between the bindings. This kind of worries me, even though Ive googled this before and apparently it was not a common problem. I really enjoy the park and I currently have a burton clash and since it isn't a park specific board, I started looking into saving up for one. (even though I just bought one, I will not be buying it for the next year or two) So I guess the question I have is, does nonstop rail abuse just cause the boards to snap over time? What is the average lifespan of a board that goes on rails pretty often? I got into the sport late this year, so next year I hope to go out no less than 10 times and plan on going to the park each time.
