Default New to the sport

Hey, long time skier, new boarder. I am in my 30's now and my children are old enough to start skiing. I have recently gotten into the sport and I love it. I want to buy my own equipment but I'm not sure what is the right size for me. I am 5'8 and 190lbs and from what I read, 154-155 is the size that I should be looking at.

However, I think I have found a good deal on an Academy board that is 158. Being that I am new and still learning, will this board be too tall for me? I know that this is all vague info but I am just trying to decide weather I should stay with a smaller board or will I enjoy the longer one later? I am not a park rider, I think I will mostly do free ride stuff.
