When I get home after a day riding I usually take my boots out, open them up all the way (all the laces loosened, liner pulled open as far as I can) and let them air dry for awhile. I don't normally* remove the liner from the boot, just let them air out and dry.
I never re-tighten them but my boots go back into a boot compartment on my gear bag and are never just loose tossed in a closet or in the trunk of the SUV when driving to/from the resort.
*Last year after a day of spring riding, my boots were fairly wet and I forgot to get them out to dry right away. That created the funk in the boots that makes your hair curl so in that case I did pull the liners and insoles and let them all air out separately.
