Wrong Board / Right Day

Woke up this morning hoping to check the snow report and see a few inches at least... But walked to get coffee at 7:30am in the bright, crispy sunlight. Forecast still showed 4" of snow by noon, and I pretty much gave up and started working on a client's website. Was completely sure that the weather apps/sites were full of shit.

I looked outside my window at 9am and it was DUMPING. WTFFFFFF... checked the webcam at Taos mountain, and it was up there too. I figured that it would get tracked out by people up at the mountain and not amount to much, so I grabbed this Forum Contract 150cm board that I got for $35 last year off some website's Forum clearance. I hadn't ridden it yet (I bought it thinking I could just sell it or something later), but figured it would probably be more damp than my Lobster Park Board, and didn't feel that I needed the NS SL 158 cause I just wanted to play around on side hits and shit that might have a bit of soft snow still.

I get on the lift around 1pm, and I'm seeing like at least 6" of untracked snow everywhere... There were only like 20 cars in the parking lot. Now I'm totally regretting not bringing the SL, cause a 150 cambered jib deck is probably gonna suck in these conditions.............

Today turned out to be one of the most fun days I've had this year! That little deck destroooooooyed the snow today. Totally surfed around like a wakeboard or something. I learned cab 3s on some rollers and generally spent the day laying down deep turns and airs on everything I could. I did get broke off a couple times in the tracked out stuff, but totally worth it.

Thought I'd share, hope some of you guys are enjoying some surprise fresh stuff too!
