It's not something that you would try like reverse camber or canting to "improve your game". It's an experiential thing. If you are a person that already rides with your feet a lot and likes to slash your board around like a skate deck, no high backs can increase that feeling and experience. Some people ride more like that in powder and that's another place where the no high back can intensify that feeling. But if you don't ride that way and you use your high backs, then don't take them off. Or at least don't sweat that you're missing out on something, just check it out some time.
