His age doesn't matter because he still lives with his parents. Parent's house, parent's rules.
I'm about to be a father and if my kids ever challenge me when they are 18 and under my roof, I'm kicking them to the curb.
But honestly, there are respectful ways of debating with your parents. Using examples that they can't argue against are a very good way of doing so.
