I haven't been snowboarding seriously since 03-04. I now have a Never Summer Premier and the tech has changed but the basics are still there. I'm enjoying the new tech but not sure if I'm taking full advantage of it yet since I haven't ridden in powder. It's definitely more stable than my old Burton Custom with burton c14's from 02 but my Premier is stiffer too. I just wish the Premier was a bit lighter like my Custom but then I wonder if the SL-R is lighter. Heck before that I had a ride timeless with k2 clicker bindings. I have Targas on mine and the toe cap makes it soo much more comfortable as well.

I'd say demo as many boards as you can to see if there's something you like.
