After being abroad for a while, and living in a rather racist country, i can appreciate the desire to be addressed politely. Thats all PC boils down to. And Americans are not always big on politeness.

No, PC terms won't solve the basic issue of mutual respect and politeness, any more than anti-racism laws will stop people from harboring racist thoughts. But they are both way to help reduce needless idiocy from manifesting into actual action.
Whats the problem with referring to someone politely, ie: how that person wishes to be addressed?
