Muscle Strain-Lower Back

Yesterday morning, I was loosening the lugs on the front wheel of my car so I could repaint the calipers. Low and behold, I instantly got a horrible shooting pain in my lower back. Long story short, the pain got worse to the point where I could barely walk last night. Went to the ER today fearing something like a herniated disc. Luckily the ER Doc says it is just a muscle strain. Hurts like hell...Vikodin won't touch the pain at all. Took one this morning and I might as well have not taken it at all.
Anyone else out there run into this? If so, how long before you felt right again? Have you had any reoccurrences? I'm hoping this is a one time deal. With the season right around the corner, I am hoping for a speedy recovery. I'm 37, so I won't bounce back like I used to : (.
