Up here in Canada, $25.00 for sure for a wax, metal scrappers are good to use you just need to be careful of the base. Additionally metal scrappers are key to scrapping p-tex repairs... The household iron will work, just don't plan on using it for clothing afterwards, and be sure to turn steam off and find the right "fabric temperature" so you don't go burning the bases. Check out youtube they have some killer waxing and repair videos.
