Buying a board for my cousin

I buying a board for my cousin for the holidays.

he is 5'10 about 180 doesn't go into the park, just freerides. The board needs to be a burton because he already has est bindings.

He can link turns and go down about anything but he has only had about 15 days on the snow in total. I am thinking the custom x is too advanced for him.

I heard him talking about the sherlock but wouldn't the custom flying v be better for freeriding?

What would you guys recommend for an intermediate freerider custom or sherlock?
