Default Help Buying a Jacket

So I have been using my aunts $400 jacket with all kinds of features but i was only borrowing it...

I ride in socal and i dont know what kind of jacket to get. I am looking at the Volcom Bauhaus:

Bauhaus Jacket :: Volcom Snowboarding 2010-11

but should I be looking for a shell instead of insulated? Its 80g insulated and it has ventilation but I dont really know if thats alot or a little. Im want to spend under $200 and obviously the cheaper the better, but I want something that is good for me and the conditions I ride in

theres also the Volcom Cassina:

this one is a shell...both are the same price haha so idk which ones to get!

i am a size small in case anyone has any suggestions...i am looking for something in this color blue or maybe a deep purple

Thanks in advance
