Review: 158 Burton Mr. Nice Guy 2012
Weather - cold, sunny and clear skies
Slopes - hard pack and ice
Park - ice
158 Burton Mr. Nice Guy 2012 (Keegan Valaika's board - it used to be Love), Burton Cartels EST 2012 in XL/L
Mr. Nice Guy: Solid true twin regular camber and not-too-soft jibbing/freestyle board with loads of pop. On the downside it performed pretty average to poor on the hard-pack and ice - it handles speed very poorly - but you probably don't want it for that anyway.
Cartels: I was excited about trying these as many people have told me these are some of the most responsive bindings out there, loads of forward lean, etc, etc. I didn't find that to be the case with these bindings.
EST vs. Non-EST - I probably wouldn't have been able to tell you if I was riding EST or Non-EST without looking down at the bindings.
Footbed - very comfortable.
Toestrap - this is my pet hate - Burton toestraps. I think this is the worst part of this binding. IME, it doesn't work very well.
