When you buy a $600,000 home and have 6% sales tax like in TX then move to some place that has 18% sales tax.... that is pretty significant. Considering I asked a couple of simple questions, I didnt think they would be that hard to answer. I make plenty of money so I am not too worried about it but it is a consideration, not a deal breaker, I would definately have to look in a lower price range though..... My county taxes on my home in SA with school district fees included is about $1.50 per sq/ft/year which equals about $400/month in escrow I have to add to my house payments.... Again, this would be a huge difference in monthly spending if the costs were double/triple that for the county tax rates..... I am sure these are all things I will find out pretty soon but figured I would ask somewhere there are people that MIGHT know.

The sales tax in resort areas is higher because of tourists moving through. I am uncertain on property tax on purchases like that, but have heard they are a bit lower in Colorado than elsewhere. I haven't gone that route because I don't feel like buying a 3bd2ba made in the 1960's for 400k.
