I used to live 2hrs East of Tokyo and we would just take it to the recycling joint on Sundays, in fact they'd let you throw pretty much anything in the burnable waste there. The Sapporo garbos actually check what's in it.

I've already had at it with the stanley knife and it's small enough to hide in my burnable waste, I just don't want to do the dodgy here, it's such a nice city.
