Just thought I'd share a bad pic of the new high speed quad lift going up at Alpine Valley this summer ready for this season
If you not familiar with this hill, the new lift is the one on the far left and you can also see the towers are set up as well
We can't get excited about snow yet so I'm excited about the new lift
 nope those are our 3 black diamond runs down the front. To the left is our park and jumps, behind that is a huge field.
Hey, it's what we have in the Mid West riding is riding and you can only ride what nature and man has in your backyard
I used to ride at Alpine all the time before I moved out west. The reason for the high speed lift is the ridiculous lines to get ride the lift up the mountain. Ton of Chi-town people come here on the weekends. You spend 15-20 minutes waiting in line and then spend thirty seconds riding down the mountain. Even worse, about three years ago at Chestnut Mt. on opening day there were 30-45 minute waits at the bottom of the only lift that was open. I only rode down twice before I said f*ck it, and went home.
Acrophile is correct. We get tons of Chicago people riding here. But good thing is with the pass and us riding weekdays, and after the buses tours all leave we get TONS of fast laps in. This gives us tons of riding, it will all be good and I'm excited they are investing big money into the resort.
They also bought a third cat that has the half pipe attachment ability, that would be awesome if they added a pipe
Now just hoping for more park features.
Slyder, all I can say is that I truly feel sorry for you and your family. You are the man. Racking up the vert...300 ft, 3 times per hour for a 20 minute line and 30 sec black diamond run...with a high speed quad they are just putting more gapers on that little knob to run into. I'm speechless...I rather be bowling. However, back in the day got to see some Dead shows at Alpine Valley.
Hey, Danny Davis grew up riding that place! I've been there once about 2 years ago, my first season snowboarding and the terrain park looked well put together. Hopefully the new lift will keep up with the lines!
