My preference would be that if you click the snowboardingforum banner at the top you went to the homepage. Click the snowboarding forum link in the location bar you go to the forum list.
I agree. opposite of what it is now would be good. However, a lot of people check forums with their phones these days, so having a mobile version or a tapatalk plugin or something would be fantastic. /.02
I noticed it too MPD. I want to get the navigation quirks worked out first. Then we can move onto stats.
LD, just trying to modernize the site a little. The 2001 format needed some changes. I do like the simplicity of the site, so it's not like we are going to super fancy on you.
On a slightly un-related note, can we maybe look at getting some kind of like/dislike system? I know that bmx-forum has a thumb up/down option. I've seen it similarily implemented in other forums as well. Just a thought that I figured I would share.
Personally I agree with snowolf. You can already rate threads. Pretty much serves the same purpose. Like or dislike don't really add anything.
I am more into getting the navigation bugs worked out. I've already have had a few members come to me over it. Easily solved problems, but the solution isn't always intuitive for everyone.
So I didn't read all the posts but why was this change made at all? I saw basketball forum mentioned a few times. that looks like a POS IMO. Why would we want to go down that road? No offence but I know what the date is and I don't care who has a birthday today.
the date and birthday stuff is a default that comes with the front page install. basketball has a twitter account connected. We can also ad news and articles but have to be careful how we report published news.
One idea to dress up the front page is to host a photo of the month contest. Winners get a premium membership and their photo is featured on the front page.
Hate to be the only one to disagree but I can't see why its needed. This is a forum first. Adding things like twitter and a news feed are not necessary. The thing I like most about this site is that its a good place to come and shoot the shit without having the rest of the bullshit along with it.
roremc, I am agree with 99% of what you are saying. No way in hell is there going to be a twitter feed.
I want to have a section where we can post snowboard related news though. Probably not a feed. Something we can post up info on as we get it. Events, new products, cool things riders are doing.
I also want to have big deal threads easily found there. East Coast Meet comes to mind. Maybe a thread feature. Karasene's trip to Patagonia is a good example. Maybe a pic on the front page from here trip and a link to the TR. That sort of stuff.
Not much more than that. I also want our navigation quirks to get worked out too. I still find it a little bit annoying at this time.
I don't know if it has been mentioned, but making it so when you click on a forum topic it takes you to the last page of the thread. This is just for the homepage. It is kind of annoying clicking on it and then having to click last page.
So I never knew you could rate the threads in this forum. I do now though. Guess I never really looked for it. :dunno: I still think a like button for individual posts would be a nice addition though. My main reason for thinking this is that sometimes you come to a thread and realise that people have already said exactly what you would have said. So instead of repeating yourself un-neccessarily you can just "like" the post that already states how you feel. I don't think it will turn the forum into a popularity contest, but then again what the hell do I know? From the sounds of it though, it's something that could be tried out, and then if it fails miserably, can be removed fairly easily. I don't see the harm in it.
That's what happens when you get the drugs out of your system...
