Default Review: Oakley Crash Pant

I bought the Oakley Crash snowboarding pant off of BackCountry for $62 shipped two day. The arrived and I immediately put them on and went out to shovel. First thing I noticed was how cold I got. Go figure because the pants have no insulation. I threw on a base layer and went back outside. I was warm and the wind didn't penetrate the pants. The first snowboarding experience with the pants was good. I didn't get wet, but then again I didn't spend much time sitting in the snow. Second trip was the real test. It was sleeting all day so it was a great test for the pants water resistance. Sitting on the lift I saw water building up on the pants, I brushed it off, and it never penetrated the pants.

Oakley Crash Pant
Water rating: 10000
Breathable rating: 10000
Size: Large
I'm 5'10", 195 lbs, 34"/35" waist, 32" inseam, and these pants fit perfect.

Pros
You will likely never get wet underneath these pants.
Inner thigh leg vents
Lift pass clip
Fleece lined pockets
Adjustable waist
Couldn't beat the price

Cons
No insulation
Could use some additional pockets

Suggestions
If you want great waterproof protection, get something with at least 10000 rating. I was dry all day long where my wife was soaked by the end of the day. The pants are baggy fit, but could use some additional pockets. The Oakley Timber pant addresses both these with additional pockets and some insulation. The Crash pant is fine with a base layer underneath as it kept me warm when the outside temp was in the teens. Had it been colder a mid-to-heavy weight base layer would be necessary.

Conclusion
Great experience with BackCountry. Never would have paid the MSRP $190 for these pants, but at $55 + shipping it's hard to beat the waterproof and breathability of these pants. Oakley makes a great product, although they up the price because of their name.
