Something that was suggested to me that seemed to work fairly well was to take the bindings off my board, stand just off the board with it parallel to my body, jump up and land on the board. Don't think too much about it, just land naturally, and your feet should be at a pretty comfortable angle. . .and width. I've played around with a few other angles since then, but I've ended up pretty much right back there.
I can't promise that will work for everyone, but worth a shot.
