just went to brundage today, first actual day of boarding this winter

the day started off pretty bad, just the occasional soft stuff on top of icy, crusty crap. We found a couple of runs with soft snow through the trees. On the right side of the resort there were still tons of spots where there was no snow and plenty of dirt exposed, mainly around trees or steeper sections of trail. However on the left side of the mountain where the cool shit is at, all of the double blacks, huge natural drops and jumps and mini chutes, we found some pretty fresh, soft snow that was on the verge of "powder" it was a pretty dam fun day, and even better since we got half off tickets with our bogus basin season pass. Now during a normal winter no way i would spend the time and money to go up there for those conditions. but it was by far the best we had so we made the best of it and had a blast

also funny side note, i was cutting through some trees thinking it was going to dump me out by the main lift, well i was wrong and it dumped me out at the bunny hill lift, which it lower than the main lift. So it was either walk up the hill or just take the lift, so i just went to get on the lift. Now the lift for the bunny hill ONLY serves the bunny hill, so the only people riding it are brand new beginners. On this day it appeared that a bus full of middle school kids went up to the hill because EVERYONE in the line was under 5' tall and was on rental skis and of course didnt have a clue how to ski. So here i am (try to imagine this), a giant in this line, with all of my very unbeginner like gear, and on the the lift with these super novice skier kids and i must say it was quite embarrassing. I just rode up this super slow lift with my hand on my face thinking how stupid i look

also on a positive note apparently Wednesday is when it is supposed to start snowing in the valley and we might actually start having a "winter". it sure will be entertaining when the first real snow hits and everyone realizes they have forgotten how to drive in the snow, oh boy.
