Hip Problem

So at the joint where my right femur(thigh) meets my hip/ pelvis I can move in a certain way so that it like pops? Not out of place or like cracking a knuckle but I can feel it move and rub and it's an uncomfortable feeling, but not painful.

I'm seventeen years old so I imagine that I shouldn't really be having hip problems. But the last time I went boarding I had to break really hard. Doing this I had my leg fully extended and used my torso/ abdomen to swing my leg around. I also had to put most of the force on my back right leg to stop. After I stopped breaking I felt a sudden, very sharp, shooting pain in the area where my thigh meets my hip.

I hope this gives a decent enough explanation, I'm just wondering if any one has any ideas about what it could be. I'm only afraid that the joint is deteriorating perhaps causing permanent damage. This is the second time that this has happened.

Thanks for your input.
