anybody else ever experienced sizzling / popping during snowboard waxing?

I was waxing my board this AM and heard some...just a little here and there, with some steam/smoke. Iron was set to usual temp which doesn't give smoke typically. Only difference is that I had carried my snowboard in a damp snowboard bag to the garage right before waxing (stupid me). I figure some dampness went from the bag into the board's base, and started boiling off during the waxing process. I didn't smell any burnt wax and the base looks fine. Just wonderin'
