From what I've reseached, there's a complex and thorough bus system in Salt Lake ( i think) to get to the different resorts in Big Cottonwood and Little Cottonwood (you would need Little for snowbird). Lodging can be found pretty cheap around midvale or cottonwoods so I'd look at hotels that fall on the bus route. If La Quinta's on the route, I'd go with that because tends to be affordable and free breakfast! Overall, I find SLC lodging to be very reasonable. Anyways, my husband and I have done two trips to SLC, but with cars. Heading back this weekend and can not wait! Might check out snowbird this upcoming trip ourselves. (oh, discount lift tickets can be bought at lifthouse at the base of the cottonwood split off and they are not date specific so you can buy the night before)
