Mitts are warmer but she won't be able to learn to strap in her own bindings with them on. I have my little girl wear small light gloves inside her mitts when it's cold, she always pulls off the mitts to strap in, but she's good at doing up her bindings now and I don't have to help her anymore. I bought her gloves but the first day when we got to the hill she made me buy her mitts in the pro shop...not cheap of course. Goggles are a must I think, as well as good snowboard socks. Most kids socks are short and don't go up as high as the top of the boot. I never bought her wrist guards but I think it's a good idea.
