We had just received a 30mm rain/freeze the days before, so this was more of a snowshoe/scouting mission rather than a shred mission. A number of forest fires have gone through this area in the past 10-20 years, providing a bunch of great backcountry riding possibilities including burnt trees and cliffs. The road is at 765m and the top of Mont de la Galette is around 1060m (we went up to about 950m).

Very cool. I hadn't thought of using recently burned over areas. A little close to the city here to get many of those but likely do-able for a weekend roadtrip.
