Snowboarding in November?

What resorts open in November with decent snow? I read about places having the 'white ribbon' or the 'ribbon of death'. What is that? My guess is that its the only available run (or couple of runs) with enough snow to have fun on, so everyone and their mom goes on it.

Any resorts IN THE US open in November with enough snow to actually have fun on? I know it all depends on weather, but I'm asking for just typical conditions. I hear Loveland gets snow early, maybe A Basin. Lake Tahoe?

I'm excluding all the 12month ski mountains like Mt. Hood.

Itching real bad right now.
