I just ordered my first legit snowboard a few weeks ago, i had always rented but want to get more serious in the sport. I got the signal OMNI board in the 156 size for a steal on a website. Since it was that size, i got the Dave Lee colorway, which is what i wanted. The problem was the bottom board design i received did not match the bottom design pictured on the website. I called and the site i bought it from said they dont guarantee the bottom design, so heres my question. Does anyone know if the Signal company or any other sites/businesses would let me trade it in to get the base color i wanted? I am willing to pay shipping, I just want the base design i ordered.
Websites probably wouldn't since they don't keep an inventory -- they just order a drop-ship when you order stuff. As far as the manufacturer, all you can do is ask. An email costs nothing.
Thanks donutz, I called a partner company to the one i bought the board from, and they are gonna ship me the one I want. Sounds like its gonna work out, thanks again
Just so you know, the Omni is that flip flop black/colored base and the retailers had no control over how many in whatever size they got of each base style. So some are mostly black with the colored beacon and some are mostly colored with a black beacon. The screening takes time so we did more black/colored beacons.
If you got the black base personally id say keep it. Blackbases are easier to repair don't show carbon from ptex and black ptex repairs are more durable. Anecdotaly some people believe black bases are more durable because the pigmentation process weakens the molecular structure. That being said I have a signal park flat and the lime green base has been plenty durable
as your first board, glad you get what you want. for me, i don't want to love the base or i'll be too carefull on it! that thing is gonna get some damage... it happens.
i do notice most sites have a disclaimer saying they can't guarantee the base colour. always a gamble...
and for black bases, i agree.. i use a graphite wax a lot of the time due to slushy dirty conditions and on the darker bases, you don't see it... used it on one of my light bases and a year later and a few waxes its still got streaks of dark...
Thanks guys, and no worries tooscoops, even though i love it, I will have no problem tearing it up haha I see what you guys are saying though about the black bases, it does make sense. Ill have to see what happens with this one to know what i prefer next time. And yeah ive seen those disclaimers, and i understand retailers dont have control over it. I read through all the details on the specific site I bought it from and it had no disclaimers, thats why i was so bummed. but hey it happens.
Appreciate it again
