If you are moving to the metro, I'd recommend looking for a place near Central Denver. Lakewood can work depending on where you are at. The main reason is that from that general area you are likely not more than 30 minutes from any job during rush hour. Not always true, but it's a good starting point. Once you find something then you can base your living decision easily enough on what you want to deal with.

Yeah, Boulder sucks. Well except for the amazing rockclimbing, mountain biking, hiking, and such right out the door. The college girls running around all over town doesn't hurt either. Especially during the summer swim season around Boulder Creek when they are in bikini's. It isn't nearly as convenient as the Golden/Denver areas and more expensive. It's a college town, you get a college town atmosphere fwiw.
