I so agree with taking a private lesson or two. I am a beginner too and that helped me so much. Also before you should start longboarding or freebording. Riding one or both of those boards will help if you don't have any board discipline. Since I was a longboard rider prior to snowboarding it gave me a huge advantage when it came time for my snowboard lesson compared to a non board rider.
Edit: OPPS Just read you do have some type of boarding down.... sorry
