No highbacks? Switchback bindings.
Switchback is showing a binding model without highbacks. In their ads, they suggest that no highback in powder promotes a more surfy feel.
This sounds interesting. So, I took a hacksaw to an older pair of Burton P1's.
and cut the highbacks down to about 3" high.
Has anyone tried powder with no highbacks. I think maybe it would not be so good on groomed or hard snow. But in powder, hmmmm. Could be something there.
I started riding in mid 90's with very soft floppy boots and floppy bindings and it was very surfy in feel. Since then as I've upgraded my stuff, that loose feeling that I liked is harder to come by.
Any thoughts?
