I am planning on making a long road trip this winter and with passengers there will be no room for the boards to be in the car. This means they must go on the roof. Last time I went on a long trip with the boards on the roof the salted roads and spray from vehicles etc caused the edges on my boards to rust. Now, I know its only minor surface rust even so, I was wondering if anyone had any tricks to keep the edges from getting rusty on long road trips? or maybe I should just not worry about it and bring a file to tune the edges up and knock off the rust when I get to where I am going? Take a chunk of wax and rub on the base/side edges like a crayon to coat them. The wax will rub off almost instantly when you start riding. Since you mentioned a file I assume you must have wax as well.
