Not this last trip; I was not out anywhere in the bush really. When I was at Eielson, I used to see them a lot. Behind the base (east) there is the A-10 range and thousands of square miles of bush. Severl roads went way the hell back into that area where there were WW II missile batteries ( B Battery for any locals) out there I saw plenty of Grey (Timber) Wolves in small family packs. I used to spend hours with the glasses watching them. At night, we used to go to "sled hill" behind the base and build a huge bonfire with pallets stolen from the BX...
and drink/sled all night. We used to hear them very close almost every night we were out there. Wolves are no threat to man and are so misunderstood. Bears, you really have to be very cautious about ( as you know).
