Yeah, you can probably get by with all seasons on the subbie, but why would you? Technically speaking, a lot of people get by with FWD with all seasons, hell, a buddy of mine got by with his AWD car with summer tires. He's stupid and that was dangerous considering the way he drives, but if you can afford to pick up some decent winter tires highly suggest doing so. And if this is your first season with winter tires, get some good sport winter tires, paired with your subbie, prepare for a shit load of fun.
Edit: I'm regretting that I said prepare for a shit load of fun. Do so at your experience level, winter tires doesn't make anyone invisible, in fact it can make things much worse if you're too confident and dealing with things like black ice or other idiot drivers. The tires make travelling easier and safer, but use common sense. Now I feel old, and like a parent.
