Waxing a board doesn't take a huge amount of time -- as little as a half hour including setup and cleanup. Although if a beer or two is involved the time can stretch. But you don't do it when you're in a hurry. You tell your wife you'll be in the garage for a couple of hours and not to interrupt you unless someone's bleeding; you get your ipod; make sure the garage fridge has beer in it. Then you go out there, move the car, set everything up, and proceed to balance beer, waxing, and music.

Even the post-waxing cleanup is part of the ritual.

Illegitimi non carborundum.
