Impeachment is an important step toward holding him accountable and there is no worry about getting Cheney. As I hope you are aware, an Impeachment is nothing more than an indictment and does not remove a President or vice president. The actual "trial" is held by the Senate and they determine level of guilt as well as the punishment. When Clinton was Impeached, the Senate found him not guilty and no action was taken. Even if found guilty, they do not automatically remove the President, He could be censured for example.
With the charges he is suspected of and most of us feel he is guilty of, there is grounds for criminal charges for violating multiple international as well as US laws. To have on record, the impeachment articles can help pave the way for throwing his ass in Leavenworth for his crimes. Additionally, it is an important message to send to the world, that we as a nation did not condone this behavior and are taking steps to ensure that it won`t happen again. An impeachment is valuable for redeeming our credibility in the world as well as sending a message to future would be despots like Bush that they will be held accountable.
