This is what I ended up doing. I made sure to set my account to "no notifications" but the emails just kept coming, so I marked email from the forum as SPAM.
To the admins: this is an issue you should definitely address in your vBulletin settings. As someone who works with email marketing, I can tell you that you do not want to have a ton of people marking your emails as SPAM. If you get on even the lower level "suspicious activity" or blacklists of email providers, the deliverability of emails to ALL users can be negatively affected.
