Well if we get snow, we should get out. Been splitting for 12 years in and around Colorado. Wildsnow riding is different but if you can ride the double blacks and are comfortable in tight trees it shouldn't be much of an adjustment.
Everything out here is about what the conditions are giving you. Generally speaking we are tree rats most of the winter, getting into alpine terrain starting maybe late March and onward. All depends on the snow, weather, underlying layers and such. Bert is my main stomping grounds and for good reason. There are several other passes and peaks I have plenty of experience with too.
