I was on the lift with another snowboarder who said he's just "riding what he's got", and I totally understand that, but I felt deeply sorry for him.
No need to feel sorry for him or be condescending. Not everyone can live near a killer mountain, so you make do and find fun where you can. Few things irritate me more than sitting on a lift with someone who is a first-timer at the hill and is used to skiing out west and then listening to them complain loudly about how awful the hill is and how they would kill themselves if they had to live here. So annoying.
