should I epoxy? (pics)

One of my athletes clipped the nose of my board last weekend. Didn't think much of it until I really took a hard look at it last night...it's not deep and I don't think it punctured to the core but any tips for repairing this?

I was told to just drip some p-tex in there but from what I'm reading I'm thinking some epoxy would work better? I've never used epoxy before but I'm a do-it-yourself-er so not too worried...again...any tips?

I'm thinking I'll shave down/off that little piece of protruding top sheet...

Thanks. (Picture quality isn't the best, I know. Will try to get better shots tonight).
