Btw... usually when this happens it's steep enough that I'm doing skidded turns if that makes a difference.

Lean forward (it's hard psychologically I know) and immediately turn toeside. Pause if you need to, it's ok, Then lean forward, and immediately turn heelside. Wash, rinse repeat. Pretty soon you'll get over the fear. That's how I did it at first. What gave me the confidence was that by leaning forward I was in more control.
