im pretty sure that as you get better you're working harder without noticing it, but your calves notice it. my calves are sore right now as i am typing this. i think its normal, eventually it should subside. also you maybe on your toe edge a bit more than your heels.
do your calves feel sore? or is there a distinct shooting pain.
either way i think you're overthinking it and considering this sport i would say its normal.
