for those of us that live down in the front range we maybe should just give up on the mountains and ride around in denver, maybe the embankments of I-25 or I70? ha. 10 inches forecast here tonight and tomorrow.
Knee Deep at Beaver Creek today. The snow was very light, it was that champagne powder. Breckenridge was swell yesterday. Beaver Creek is way better than Breckenridge. I did come across some thin areas at Beavs but it was a tiny percent of what I was riding.
Not putting Breck down, but I didn't ride a single groomer yesterday and I rode hard all day, putting down deep fresh tracks hiking off 9. It's not like Breck has gotten a bunch of snow and we haven't...they are on the edge of the same donut hole. I have a love/hate with Loveland, its frustrating that they don't have a park manager, instead they have a couple hamstrung crewboys that get yelled at for making anything cool by some suit who has no idea wtf is going on. On the other hand when there is snow, the options for serious(serious is stretching it I realize, its not Squaw or Jhole)terrain above treeline are not only better than Breck, but there are way more of em.
i love seeing the desk jockey get all butthurt about published storm totals while people are actually having some big and deep days out there.....carry on.
What's sucking hard for me right now is work, school, and life. Pursuing an MBA full-time while working 45+ hours a week while also trying to get a business off the ground is not leaving much time at all for shredding.
All of y'all mother fuckers can eat a dick though. I'll still bitch! :cheeky4:
If anyone is riding at the us open come say hi. I've been on the first jump all week... Great view of everything up there. There are some great riders and some not very good ones too. Kinda surprising how much a few of them suck in comparison to the others.
Well seeing as this time last year I had just been cleared to ride groomers after dislocating my elbow this year is amazing. Also I'll be at the Open tomorrow through the end of Sunday.
Im going to the doctor for my elbow tomorrow morning. still can't lift a glass of water and my arm/fingers are numb and swollen up. It fucking sucks, hopefully it's just a bad sprain.
How long were you out? I'm kind of scared, should have went today but decided to ice and go in tomorrow.
I've had fun this year though, until this morning anyway. Might have just ruined the upcoming trip with the guys too.. Perfect.
I was out 6 weeks under doctors orders should have been probably 3 max. But my elbow was supposedly the worst dislocation of that kind they had seen in 22 years. I had to go to two separate hospitals to have it put in and it spent something like 9 hours out of the socket. If you dislocated it you would know, I had my forearm sticking out like 5 inches in the wrong direction.
Btw linville, in case you didn't know, Loveland has been under reporting their snow fall totals this year big time. Checking their snow stake web cam is recommended.
I'm just about ready to walk out the door to head up there for some afternoon turns right now. Had some shit I had to get done this morning, but I'm gonna squeeze in a little bit of riding.
I concur on Wednesday...best coverage ive seen all season at Breck even though I missed most of the powder days there. But there was still plenty to stay in the trees all day. Never realized how good the Breck trees were till then
Good day at Loveland today. But goddamn, worst traffic I've ever seen on I-70 both directions for a random weekday. Between construction at the Idaho Springs tunnel, rock scaling at Georgetown, and people being fucking morons it was pretty brutal.
Serious question - do you think the US Open will keep most of the crowd at the front of Vail tomorrow? Riding somewhere tomorrow and Vail has gotten more snow, but don't want to be stuck among the masses. I'm wondering if everyone will sort of stick towards the pipe (its the pipe at Golden Peak, right?) area and away from the back.
Unfortunately I can't. Wednesday will probably be my next chance.
