higher center of gravity, no metal edge to cut into the ground to hold a tight line. also, sliding straight down wind on a snowboard = shaving some ice & snow like a regular downhill stop... making the same move on a mountain board = much more likely to catch the edge of the wheels and ending up getting pulled onto your knees for a bit of a slide. (wear old jeans!) although, 4 wheel slides to scrub off speed are entirely do-able, even for a novice like myself, so long as the surface you're on cooperates and you can get the coordination down.
tips: practice practice practice!
w/ a small (3m) kite in a good breeze you can learn a LOT about kite control and angles of attack to have your board travel on in order not to head straight down wind and cause line slack, or to tack back & forth to come up wind - and also to pilot the kite to generate as much power via apparent wind as possible vs. just hooking in & cruising on a virtually stationary big kite that you don't have to work very much at all.
like on water, keep your back leg bent a fait bit more than the front, lean back, fly the kite low & use the power to counter balance your weight & get you going!
