What is causing this?

These are new K2 IPO's. I initially thought it was due to skating the board to the lift (I do it a crazy way with my right foot in front of the board and not behind). I thought this was causing the edge to strike the boot. I then realized the damage is also occuring on the foot that stays in the binding. I know the question sounds a bit ridiculous, as it is likely due to rubbing on the binding, but is there a way to prevent this or stop it from getting worse? Thank for your help.
